Description

Htoo Khant San is a Burmese visual artist currently based in Bangkok, where he studies Visual Communication Design. His multidisciplinary practice spans painting, collage, and fabric-based work, often exploring themes of identity, cultural memory, and social transformation. Drawing from personal experience and the shifting realities of life in Myanmar, Htoo uses visual storytelling to reflect on emotional and societal change.

His series Bound by Change responds to the fragmentation and uncertainty of challenging times. Each piece begins as a handmade collage—assembled from magazine cutouts and physical textures—then reimagined as high-quality digital prints. This process of rebuilding from fragments mirrors the central theme of resilience and renewal.

Through layered forms and contrasting materials, Htoo’s work explores healing, adaptation, and quiet strength. Pieces such as Nature and the Human Form emphasize the deep bond between people and the natural world, while Woven Growth and Layered Currents celebrate unity, shared experience, and the complexity of personal growth. Dynamic Convergence portrays movement through geometric abstraction, offering a sense of direction amidst chaos.

Bound by Change is a meditation on the power of transformation. It reflects the enduring strength found in community and the hope that—even when things fall apart—there is always the possibility of becoming whole again.
