An Interactive Art + Conversation Event

Join us for an afternoon of creativity, connection, and collective action. Together, we’ll build a Wall of Solidarity — using paste, posters, paint, and paper — to honour Myanmar’s ongoing struggle for democracy. Inspired by the quiet power of tea rooms — from Myanmar’s revolutionary teahouses to the suffragettes’ tea parties — we’ll gather to reflect, share stories, and show support. No experience needed. Just come, have a brew, and make your mark.

Why Tea?

From the suffragette tea rooms of Britain to the activist teahouses of Myanmar, tea has quietly fuelled resistance. These everyday spaces became safe havens for bold ideas — where community, courage, and change began to brew. SolidariTEA honours this legacy — creating space for conversation, creativity, and collective action in support of Myanmar’s ongoing fight for democracy.

Why now?

Held two months after the devastating earthquake in Myanmar, SolidariTEA is a public creative gathering that invites the Blackpool community to stand in solidarity with those affected — not only by the natural disaster, but by ongoing political oppression. This event is part of Shattered, a wider creative response project exploring themes of fragility, resistance, and renewal. Rather than a traditional exhibition, SolidariTEA is an open, drop-in experience where people come together to create — building a communal wall of solidarity using paste, posters, paint, and paper.

Aims of the Event

1 To raise awareness
of the political and humanitarian crisis in Myanmar

2 To co-create a
visual installation that expresses solidarity and shared resistance

3 To encourage meaningful
conversations through shared ritual and creative collaboration

This will be a drop-in, participatory session open to the public, inviting attendees to contribute to a growing Wall of Solidarity — a collaborative installation made with posters, messages, protest art, slogans, and personal reflections. Materials will be provided, and everyone is welcome to add their voice.

Burmese and British teas will be served throughout the day, creating a relaxed atmosphere that encourages reflection and conversation.
