Description

This striking linocut honors the life and legacy of Khet Thi, the beloved poet, engineer, and pacifist whose words fueled Myanmar’s pro-democracy movement. Centered around his now-iconic line—“They shoot in the head, but they don’t know that revolution is in the heart”—the piece carves the word “revolution” into the shape of a heart, a visceral reminder that true resistance is felt, not just fought.

The handmade linocut technique is deliberate and raw. Each gouged line mirrors the brutality Khet Thi endured, including the tragic and symbolic removal of his heart following his death in custody. The red ink bleeds with dual meaning: the literal bloodshed of his sacrifice and the emotional gravity of his poetry.

By digitizing this print for the Shattered Exhibition, we aim to preserve Khet Thi’s legacy and share it widely as a symbol of courage, defiance, and the enduring power of art to bear witness.

All proceeds from the sale of this print support grassroots efforts in Myanmar.
