Brilliant Blackpool
LeftCoast commissioned us to develop the visual identity and poster campaign for Brilliant Blackpool an outdoor installation and jewellery collection created in collaboration with artist Morag Myerscough and Tatty Devine.
The brief asked us to translate the atmosphere of the shoot into a graphic language rooted in the idea of future heritage: Blackpool’s bright, maximalist aesthetic running alongside the domestic traditions of the 1950s and 60s, reimagined for now. The result needed to feel bold and celebratory without losing the quieter, community-rooted spirit that sits at the heart of LeftCoast’s work.
The campaign is built around four pieces from the collection, each with its own theme and styling world. Freedom draws on the Grow Your Own movement and a retrofuturist vision of food growing and sharing. Dream is framed through the urban explorer familiar places seen with fresh eyes. Hope takes its lead from community gardening, the optimism of nurturing something from seed. Smile celebrates the joy that comes from communal action, generosity, and shared abundance.
Our job was to hold all four together as a coherent campaign finding a visual system that could carry each piece’s distinct character while reading clearly as a single body of work. The graphic treatment draws directly from the shoot, working with the colourways, styling, and atmosphere that photographer Ocean Farini and stylist Charlotte John brought to the project.
