Revolution is in the Heart: A Tribute to Khet Thi
Illustration / Linocut Print
This piece commemorates Zaw Thun, known as Khet Thi, a poet and pacifist whose words became a rallying cry for Myanmar’s pro-democracy movement. Centered around his powerful line, “They shoot in the head, but they don’t know that revolution is in the heart,” the artwork carves the word “revolution” into a heart shape, symbolizing the resilience and spirit of the people he championed.
The linocut technique reflects the brutality of his death—each carved stroke echoing the violence he endured, including the removal of his heart. Red ink evokes both the bloodshed of his sacrifice and the emotional weight of his legacy.
Khet Thi lived by his beliefs and died for them, transforming his poetry into a lasting symbol of resistance and hope.
This work invites reflection on his courage and the enduring power of words to ignite change.
